Cheryl A. McDermott (Cher), 64, of Sugar Land, Texas, went home on October 22, 2014. Her beautiful spirit is with the Lord. She was born in Hastings, Nebraska on November 18, 1949. While Grand Island, Nebraska was Cher's hometown, she and her family moved to Lincoln (twice), once to Colorado, and finally to Texas. Cher was a light to her family and others around her. Jesus is her Savior, and her fidelity to Him guided everything she did. She had a heart for helping others. She wanted the best for everyone she knew and loved. Most recently, she was part of a nursing home ministry in Sugar Land, Texas. She loved the nursing home residents, and they loved her in return. In Cher's new home, she will be welcomed by Betty Allen (mother), Edward Allen (father), and Rick Allen (brother). Cher will be greatly missed by Rich McDermott (husband), Ross McDermott (son), Arik McDermott (son), Deb Dimmitt (sister), Judy Novacek (sister), and her friendly and loveable golden retriever (Sunny). Services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:30 AM, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street with visitation an hour prior to service.
