Christopher John Varga

Christopher John Varga, 42, of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on May 9, 2023. Christopher was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended public schools and spent weekends camping, fishing, and boating with his family. His grandparents lived on lakes in Lincoln and Crete, where he hung out with his cousins and friends. A memory he shared described his grandmother, Mary, taking him on a road trip to visit historical sites in Nebraska. His love for life on a lake stayed with him.

Later in life, living on a lake near Plattsmouth, Chris would load up his fishing gear into a paddle boat and head into the lake to fish, just like he’d done as a kid. He was always quick to troubleshoot and make repairs on the house’s pontoon boat. The Fourth of July would find him decorating the boat in red, white, and blue and taking it out onto the lake in the Boat Parade. Last year he promised to put more thought into the decorations and win a prize. That was unable to happen but the memory will stay with his boat parade friends.

Chris took to heart his mother’s advice that “If a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right.” He made many friends while living on the lake and was always offering to lend a hand. Chris was a good caretaker of the house on the lake where he lived, often making improvements to the decks, garage, and yard. While she was living in Hickman, Chris’ grandma Hoffman was so pleased to see him looking healthy when he came to visit her. Repeatedly, Chris made family who knew him well pleased when they saw how he’d grown into adulthood.

His family and friends will miss his easy friendship and all the laughs they shared over the past six years of his living on the lake.

Preceded in death by his mother Patricia (Hoffman) Varga.

Survived by his father Daniel Varga and sister Melissa Varga.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln, NE. A visitation is set for one hour before services at 12:30 p.m. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
