Christy D. Syfie

Raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Christy attended Lincoln Northeast High School, graduating in 1983. Shortly after high school, she married and welcomed two children into the world; Christopher in 1985 and Whitney in 1988. She spent the better part of the next two decades devoting herself to her family and community through active service, notably with the Eastridge Elementary P.T.O. and as a dedicated member of The P.E.O. Sisterhood.

In 2007, Christy met the love of her life, Brian Syfie, and the two married in 2010. This new chapter brought immense joy and gave Christy another opportunity to do what she did best: love and nurture her growing family. Above all else, her greatest passions in life were her family, traveling, flower gardening, and spending quiet afternoons working in the yard alongside Brian.

Christy showed her love through action. Whether it was donating a kidney to her brother, helping raise her nephew, or providing continuous care for her dad after his stroke. To be loved by Christy was to be loved purely and unconditionally.

Christy passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 61, surrounded by her family. Just as she spent her entire life showing up for the people she loved, her family stayed right by her side until the very end.

She is survived by her loving husband, Brian; her children, CJ (Dara), Whitney (Jason), Abby (Rick), and Halle; her mother, Linda (Larry); her brother, Clint; and her nephew, Kyle. Her legacy continues through her nine adored grandchildren, Tatum, Jaelyn, Preston, Emerson, Titus, Austyn, Berkeley, Piper, and Gracie, and great-grandchild, Mara.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Monte.

Christy’s memorial will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery, 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512. A party in Christy’s honor will be held for close family and friends after.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations in Christy’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America.
