

Constance Marlene McDowell, 80, born Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully at Sumner Place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, the daughter of George and Ella (Schleufer) Svoboda. Connie was a long-time member of American Lutheran Church. She had a deep faith in the Lord and enjoyed volunteering at the church. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved her family deeply, would do anything to help when needed, but she especially loved getting her large family together for picnics, reunions and holidays. She also enjoyed going for walks, doing crafts and listening to country music. Connie worked for Lincoln Benefit Life Insurance from 1956 to 1962, Standard Meat from 1968 to 1986 and Sky Park Apartments as an Assistant Property Manager from 1987 until 2001 when she retired. Survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack McDowell, daughters Kim (Tom) Garay of Lincoln, Angela (Bill) Zessin of Lincoln, Coleen (Walt) Hays of Lincoln, Stacey (Kevin) Dietiker of Independence, MO, Darcy (Lon) McAllister of Independence, MO, Sister Sharon Balis of Omaha, and Brother Stan Svoboda (Nancy) of Washington, 22 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, cousins, nieces & nephews. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Svoboda, Brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Sandra Svoboda, Brother-in-law, Julius Balis, Nephew, Vincent Svoboda. A celebration of Connie's life will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 26 at American Lutheran Church, 4200 Vine Street in Lincoln. Visitation with family will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials to the family for further designation
