After spending his pre-school years on a farm in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; he attended Park Elementary, Everett Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High in 1956. He attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1961. He married the love of his life Delores later that year and started a family, with three daughters born over seven years.
Dallas worked for a few years with General Dynamics, and the family lived in San Diego, CA; Topeka, KS and Lincoln. He was assigned to a missile site in Nebraska during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs and he had many stories about those experiences. That role was followed by a long career with the Nebraska Department of Roads as an Electronics Manager.
At the end of 1997, Dallas retired along with Dee and they began traveling the United States in a motor coach, spending winters in Texas or Arizona and visiting many other states, as well as yearly cruises or beach vacations with friends. After a few years on the road, the couple designed and built their retirement dream home on Beaver Lake in Arkansas. Dallas was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, AR, teaching English as a second language and assisting with technology needs. He was also an involved member of the local Nebraska Club and a regular volunteer for lake clean-up days.
In 2020, the couple moved back to Lincoln and became residents of The Landing. Dallas was a beloved member of The Landing community, always ready to help his neighbors with furniture repairs, tech challenges and share either a joke or a discussion on theoretical physics.
Dallas loved camping, hiking, DIY projects, woodworking and he was a very creative cook. An involved father, he made sure his girls got a good education and were as comfortable changing a tire as they were making a meal.
Predeceased by his parents, bother Douglas and wife Delores. Dallas is survived by his daughters Kimberly (Kevin) Kass, Kristin Drda, and Karolyn (Brian) Husa; grandchildren Tyler Kass, Aubrey Kass, Dominic Liguori, Luka Liguori; brother-in-law Donald Minford, nieces, nephew and his special friend Nancy Calvert.
A Celebration of Life will be January 30, 2026 at 10:00 am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials to the Landing Scholarship Fund or the Nebraska Wildlife Federation
