David Lee Lyman, age 70, formerly of Omaha, Neb., passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, in Raleigh, N.C., after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s. Born on December 15, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Glenn Lyman and Mary Moore Lyman, David graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1966 and SCC-Milford in 1969. Married to Beverly Burk in 1970. Together they had a daughter (Brenda) and a son (Scott). David was a computer programmer for MA Bell Co. as well as Commercial Federal Savings and Loan before retiring from Fiserv, Inc. in 2002. He enjoyed many years working as a Scoutmaster for Troop #364., taking part in several National Jamborees as part of the cook staff. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bev; daughter, Brenda; son, Scott (Megan); grandchildren Jackson, Gabrielle, Harrison, and Anderson; mother, Mary (Alan Birkmann); father, Glenn (Vera); sisters, Linda (Mark Svoboda) and Chris (Sharon); half-brothers, Brian, Larry, and Greg (Jen); step-brother, Charles (Debbie); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Peggy (Bob Allgood).
The memorial will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6700 S 14th St., Lincoln. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with graveside service to follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Val’s Place of Raleigh, N.C., for the past two years of excellent care and to Transitions Hospice Center of Raleigh for assisting with his peaceful passing.
