My Name is Paul Roberts and I grew up in Lincoln Nebraska only a few blocks away from where David Wood grew up. When God created us in our mothers wombs he created two kindred spirits linking David and myself. An Adventure was created by this “Kindred Spirit" for both of us as children never to be forgotten in our old age. God has a way of linking people through time, space, and distance through love and spirit that lasts a lifetime.
I first met David in kindergarten at Merle Bettie Elementary school and we knew each other as special friends. In first grade Dave and I were inseparable and as close as two brothers could be. I thought of Dave as family and my brother. Dave was always a leader and I was always his backup which complemented whatever endeavor we decided to take on. Our “Inseparable” friendship went on for a decade. Dave and I spent years in front of his dad's old WWII Shortwave radio in the family garage. We were fascinated by the old antique and wanted to know how it worked. We listened together to radio stations around the world from that messy garage and formed an everlasting bond as the best of friends. This sparked an interest for both of us in electronics and science. Dave was always a gifted natural in figuring out how things worked and making it better. Though we never forgot each other as time passed, we both took our own paths as young men making our plans for success in life.
Dave called me about a month before he went to be with Jesus and we talked for an hour as if we were still best friends. He never discussed health issues and I was planning on visiting him next summer. I talked with Dave about the blessings in life I have though my relationship with Jesus Christ. I will always miss Dave and the time we had. When it is my time Dave, you can meet me and walk hand in hand with the Lord. We will take a long walk together catching up on our life Adventure. Until that time Love never fails and is everlasting. Best friends forever!

Remembering Dave fondly, out riding his mini bike around the open lot next to the house Lisa babysat me in over by LES, and his huge infectious smile!
Thinking of the Wood family today.
Sorry for your loss.

My heart is broken. Uncle Dave was loved by everyone he knew. He made me feel like I was his favorite person and I know that’s how he made everyone feel. It’s special to have family that are also true friends. I will cherish all the adventures, stories, laughs, songs, Magic tricks, dancing Dave s popcorn, the Wood bed and breakfast and sooooo much more. I am one lucky girl to marry in to this family. I will miss him dearly!! Jesus got one of the best!
