Dean Albert Thiesfeld, age 92, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. Dean was born November 19, 1928 to Albert and Zelma (Mitzner) Thiesfeld near Nebraska City, NE on a farm. He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1948 and won most outstanding athlete his senior year. Dean graduated Peru State College in 1952 where he also won the Swenson Award for outstanding athlete. His track team won state in 1954 at Sumner, NE. He also received a Master's Degree in Industrial Arts at Colorado State University in 1959. He taught school in Sumner, Wahoo, and Lincoln, NE.
Dean joined the National Guard and served for 9 years. He was united in marriage to Eilene Beethe, June 8, 1952 at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church near Elk Creek, NE. Dean was very active in the church. He also worked as a crop hail adjuster and then went on full time to be the Vice President of Blakely Crop Hail Insurance Company. Dean loved mountain hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park where climbed Long's Peak 9 times. Other favorite hobbies include, golf, ice skating, snow skiing, hunting golf balls, and Wednesday afternoon cards. Dean and Eilene spent lots of time in their motor home traveling to Arizona and Texas in the winters and Estes Park in the summers. He was hardworking, loving, a mentor to young people, honest, faithful to the Lord, and a good husband and father.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Eilene Thiesfeld; children, Terri (Scott) Thiesfeld Light, DeAnn (Frederick) Thiesfeld Valverde, and Thomas (Marjorie) Thiesfeld; grandchildren, Jesus (Jesse) Meza, Heather (Billy) Roseblock, David Valverde, and Ashley Thiesfeld; great grandchildren, Isabela Meza, Steven Roseblock, Christian Meza, and Carl Roseblock.
He is preceded in death by, his parents; brother, Robert Thiesfeld; 3 sisters, Gloria Thiesfeld Giittinger, Mary Ann Thiesfeld Stever, and Cheryl Thiesfeld Warren and granddaughter, Angela Valverde Meza.
A visitation for Dean will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4-8 PM with family present from 6-8 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln. A visitation with family will occur Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 8701 Adams Street, Lincoln followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park 6700 S. 14th Street, Lincoln at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Foundation Sanctuary Fund or to the family.
