Deb, as her loved ones knew her, was born on April 18, 1961 to Robert and Lois Scheve in Lincoln, Nebraska. The youngest of 3, Deb grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Southeast High School. She continued her schooling at OBS, a 3yr. Bible School in Omaha, NE, with whom she went on her first missions trip to Guatemala! Her passion for missions led her to pursue her BA in Linguistics & English at UNL, where she became involved in Chi Alpha, a Christian Campus Ministry!
In 1990, Deb felt called to move to Seattle and began her career as an executive assistant, working for executives in Microsoft, Xbox, and Amazon over the course of her 28 years there.
During her years in Seattle, she would go on two more missions trips with her local church, one to Uganda & the other to Japan!
In 2018, Deb was diagnosed with ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease), a terminal disease with a 3-5 yr survival rate - she defied the odds and lived for 7!
That same year, Deb returned to Lincoln to care for her mother, Lois, and continue her work remotely with Amazon. She remained in Lincoln after Lois passed.
Deb had a passion for life! She loved traveling & exploring new places. She loved working with her hands, expressing her creativity and gifts thru gardening, quilting, cooking, sewing, photography, jewelry making, and more. She loved her work and took such pride in helping those she was able to assist. She loved her family, friends, and community. She was actively involved in her "procrasti-knitters" knitting group, an intercessory prayer group at the Lincoln House of Prayer, her local neighborhood community, and it was always a treat when her out-of-town family and friends came in to visit! She was a big fan of Husker sports, especially football and girls volleyball, and would often watch the games with her neighbors. She will be dearly missed.
Deb was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lois Scheve. She is survived by her 2 siblings: Bob (Karla) Scheve and Cindy (Tom) Sinagra, her nieces and nephews: Ted (Emily) Scheve, Sam (Andrea, Mason) Scheve, Dr. Jessica Scheve, Kyle (Heather) Sinagra, and her beloved dog, Kazu.
The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors for all of the support, prayers, and care for Deb over the last several months.
A graveside service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery, located at 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, at Gate #2 on December 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm, immediately followed by her Celebration of Life and Reception in the Garden Room at the LMH Chapel on location.
Memorials and donations can be made to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in her name to help fund further research efforts for ILD. Link below
