Deloris L McKinney

Deloris L. (Brt) McKinney, 91, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017. Born rural Lancaster County, September 19, 1925 to Adolph and Anna (Renken) Brt, was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete, attended rural Lancaster County grade school Dist. #45 and graduated from Crete High School in 1942, worked at Crete Mill office 4 years and State of Nebraska 4 years, 2 years in Kansas City, MO. Married James A McKinney of Independence MO in 1953; returned to Lincoln in 1954. Obtained Real Estate Broker’s License in 1963 and renewed same through 2000. Attended Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1954 and was a Charter Member of Redeemer Chancel Guild organized in 1958 and continued membership through 2004. Deloris participated in Women of Redeemer Circle 1 and other church activities through the years. Deloris had varied interests and took classes in Bible Studies, oil, watercolor and tole painting, tailoring, millinery, tile mosaics, caning, upholstery, stain glass, how to entertain and kolache making, also refinished some antique furniture. She wrote many poems and enjoyed family, friends, flowers and good music. Survivors: Son, David W. and wife Debra L. McKinney of Lincoln. Brother Donald E. Brt of Seattle, Grandson Michael J. and wife Abby McKinney of Chicago, Granddaughter Nicole L McKinney of Lincoln, Stepson James R. McKinney and his family of Lamoni, Iowa, Stepdaughter Sharon A Linnartz and her family of Kansas City, Nephews Gary and Brian Brt and their families. Sisters-in-Law, Edith and Anne and their families of Kansas City. Funeral Services: Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 510 South 33rd Street, Lincoln, NE. Visitation: will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 5, from 5 to 8 pm. 6800 South 14th Street. Lincoln, NE.
