Denice Anne Sears

Denice Anne (Kreifels) Sears, 63, of Denton NE, passed away February 11, 2021. She was born October 20, 1957 to John and Janet (Moell) Kreifels who lived on a farm near Paul NE. In May of 1966 her family moved to Lincoln NE. She married Jeffrey Sears on September 23, 1978 at The Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln. While in Lincoln, three sons “The Boys” were born; John in 1981, Justin in 1986, and Jared in 1992. One of Denice’s wishes was fulfilled in November of 2013, when she got to return to the country life. Her and Jeff moved to an acreage “The Country” just west of Denton NE.

Denice worked at Havelock Bank for about a year and a half (where she met Jeff). In 1976, she went to work in the Human Resource Dept. at Nebraska Department of Roads later called Nebraska Department of Transportation. While working there and raising a family, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from College of saint Mary’s. Denice retired in December of 2020.

Denice was very proud of her family: John & Kai, Justin & Holly, Jared & Jessica, and the grandchildren; Mariah, Makayla, Gatlin, Gideon, Bentley, and Braelyn.

Denice always enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, and painting cement figurines on the front porch to display around the acreage.

Denice is survived by her husband, sons and daughter-in-laws, grandchildren, mother, sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Mike Litt, and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother-in-law Dan Sears.

Visitation will be at Lincoln Memorial funeral home on Friday, February 19, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 20, Saint Mary’s Church, 7105 Cass Avenue, Denton with Nephew Father Andrew Litt officiating. Celebrants will be Monsignor Huber and Father Doty. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Denton. A luncheon for immediate family will be in the church hall back at St Mary’s after the interment.
