Donald J Buhr

Donald J. Buhr went to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he had resided for over forty years. Don was born on December 29, 1935, the tenth of eleven children born to his parents John G. and Hilcie Schmidt Buhr in Filley, Nebraska.

Don grew up working on the family farm and enjoyed his many pets, especially his horse. He had many varied and interesting jobs, from painting to manufacturing to concrete work. He owned a concrete flatwork business for many years in the Lincoln area.

Don met his wife, Norma, at the Singles group at Indian Hills Community Church. They were married June 18, 1983. They enjoyed traveling with their fifth-wheel camper and spent many winters in South Padre Island before their retirement. Don was a devoted husband, who faithfully cared for his wife in sickness and health until her death in May 2020.

Don is survived by his sister Freida Wolken; sons Dan Buhr (Lissa) and Duane Buhr; stepdaughters Sheryl Khatri Chhetri and Nancy Gullach; stepson Tim Jurgena (Kyla); grandchildren Sarie Whitson (Zach), Benjamin Buhr (Ashley), and Dani Attanasio (Drew), Laura Buhr, Camille Acred (Adam), Kahle Jurgena, Janae Whitaker (Eli), Kason Jurgena, Heidi Burns (Simeon), Heather Mathis (Chris), and Hanna Haymaker (William); and many great grandchildren.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512. A memorial service, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am. Indian Hills Community Church, at 1000 South 84th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68510. The service will be Livestream at facebook.com/IndianHillsCommunityChurch
