

Donald William Dickey, age 86, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. Donald was born in York, Nebraska on July 19, 1934 to LeRoy and Velma (Hannah) Dickey. He graduated from Gresham High School and served in the United States Air Force for seven years in numerous locations, including Woodbridge, England, where he met his wife, Barbara. He had been employed as a diesel mechanic with Nebraska Machinery Company (NMC) until his retirement when he continued to work in the same field independently until the age of 80. After his retirement from NMC, he rekindled his love for building remote control model airplanes and was a member of the Lincoln Sky Knights RC Flying Club until his passing.
He frequently spoke about how much he loved life and of his pride for his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and boating, and tinkering around in his garage.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Allen) Hines of Lincoln, and Michelle (Heith) Fulmer, of Eagle; granddaughter, Ashley (Barry) Carlson of Grand Island; grandsons, Taylor (Hannah) Hines of Lincoln, Dustin Fulmer of Draper, Utah, Derek Hines of Overland Park, Kansas, and Bailey Fulmer of Eagle; great-grandchildren, Ryker Driewer and Makinsley Palu of Grand Island, and Maverick, Gunner and Kade Hines of Lincoln; brother, Norman (Eilene) Dickey of Bradshaw; sister Cora “Betty” Davidson of Columbus; sister-in-law Marjorie Dickey of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents, LeRoy and Velma Dickey; step-mother Betty Dickey; mother-in-law Trudi Pekuri; brother Lyle Dickey and sister-in-law Dorothy Dickey, brothers, James Dickey & Kenneth Dickey; sister Carolyn Tullis and brother-in-law Dee Tullis; and brothers-in-law Ronald Davidson, and Dieter Pekuri.
A visitation with family will be held on December 10, 2020 from 1-3pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln with graveside services immediately following at Lincoln Memorial Park at 3pm.
