Donald A. Krueger, 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on July 24, 2026, at Aviva Woodlands Assisted Living. Born March 19, 1931, Donald was the son of Edward and Rose (Block) Krueger of Roca, Nebraska. He and his brother, Marvin, were raised on a farm in Roca.
Don was drafted into the United States Army on August 31, 1951, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 30, 1953, having attained the rank of Corporal. In the years that followed, he and his son, Steve, farmed together. He also worked full time at Burlington Northern Railroad on West O Street, at night as a machinist and then in the wheel plant in Havelock. He retired from the railroad in 1994. Don continued to farm before fully retiring in 2016.
On December 8, 1951, Don married Doloris "Dee" Dorothy Wilhelm in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Together they raised their children, Steve and Lori on their family farm.
Don enjoyed farming, mowing at the farm, and fishing. He and Dee did a lot of dancing over the years. As a family they would go boating. Their children learned to water ski at Blue Stem and Fremont Lakes. Don delighted in taking their Black Cockapoo, Middie on trips to the lake. Middie loved riding on the surfboard that was pulled behind the boat. She even had her own life jacket.
He and Dee would often host friends on Saturday or Sunday evenings to play cards, usually a good game of Pitch. They had many fond memories of their travels. They went to several foreign countries, including Canada, Ireland, Switzerland and Japan. They also traveled extensively in the United States with stops in Hawaii and Alaska. Dee recalled that Don always remembered the details better than she did.
He attended many activities in which his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved. He was a very proud Veteran and would share with his family about his time in the service. Above all, He loved his family. Even to the end, he would ask how everyone was doing.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rose Krueger, and his brother, Marvin Krueger. He is survived by his bride, Doloris 'Dee' Krueger; his son, Steve (Becky) Krueger and daughter Lori (Jim) Franke all of Lincoln.
