

Bryan LGH Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his
parents, Ira and Bessie; his wife, Doris and siblings, Stanley, Ted, Mary,
Francis and Amy.
Ed was born to Bessie and Ira Raymond Engle on May 24th, 1922, in
Dawson, Nebraska. After graduating from Dawson High School in 1940,
Ed joined the National Guard during World War II. The National Guard
sent Ed to the Japan. On the way, the night he arrived in Manila, the
Japanese surrendered and the war was over. He continued on to Japan to
help with reconstruction. He returned home in 1950.
On November 4, 1942, Ed married the love of his life, Doris Elaine
Kermoade. The couple were married in Hiawatha, Kansas. He was drafted
back into the army and went to Korea where he was wounded and
received the Purple Heart. While in the Army, Ed attended Pasadena
Community College, where he earned a degree in stenography in 1942.
He also attended Michigan State from 1943-44.
Ed is survived by his 4 sons: Marlyn “Skip” (Bonnie), Allen “Corky” (Elaine)
Randall (Emily), and Todd (Donna) Engle; 9 Grandchildren: Barry Engle,
Heather (Chad) Carroll, Paige (Shawn) McPherson, Jessie Engle, Cherry
(Bradley) Purdy, Sarah (Justin) Seidler, Amanda (Shane) Gunn, Melissa
Engle and Noah Engle; and 13 Great-Grandchildren: Richie, Sydney, Seth,
Walter “Radar”, Blake, Harley, Ryan, Chase, Kaidyn, Cassie, Addison, Devin
and Jase.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be Thursday 15 of May 6:00 PM to 8:00PM at
Lincoln Memorial, 6800 South 14 Street, Lincoln, NE. The funeral will be
12:30 PM Friday 16 of May at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln.
