Ed was born in Geneva, Nebraska on October 24, 1950, where he spent his childhood growing up with his 5 sisters and 1 brother. He graduated high school in 1969 from Lincoln High School. Following high school Ed pursued a degree in Information Technology at Milford Technical College. He graduated with his associates degree in 1971. Upon graduation Ed began working at Centel. Through Centel, he met the love of his life, Cheryl (Penner) Ryan. Ed and Cheryl were wed on May 19, 1979. Ed and Cheryl welcomed two healthy children, Lyndsey (Ryan) Miller on June 24, 1987 and Travis Ryan, July 4, 1990. Tragically, Ed lost Cheryl after her courageous battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 2006.
Throughout his life, Ed, was passionate about his family, cars, and the rules of Mexican Train. In his free time he could be found at the movie theater, running the local trails, and cheering on the Cornhuskers. There was nothing Ed loved more than family. He devoted much of his life to honor his late wife, by caring for his in-laws. He wouldn’t miss one of Travis’s rec games, weekly family dinners, and spending time with his grandsons. Ed built and maintained many positive relationships in his life with those he met through school and work. He would often meet with his Olathe East Paraprofessional group at Jose Peppers and share lottery ticket numbers with old classmates and coworkers.
