Elaine S Monter

Elaine Sena Monter, age 87 of Lincoln, passed away March 18, 2026, at her home at Yankee Hill Village. Elaine was born on November 11, 1938. Elaine was the daughter of Arthur and Anna Matilda “Tillie” (Harmes) Vorderstrasse.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Chester High School in Chester, NE. Elaine was united in marriage to Marvin Leon Monter at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chester, Nebraska. She was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe and various other Lutheran Churches where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the bell choir.

Elaine enjoyed playing cards, sewing, exercising, music, sitting out in the sun, cheering on her favorite sports teams, spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Elaine is preceded in death by husband Marvin, her parents; sisters Lorene Jagels and Betty Poppe, son Brent Monter; son-in-law Mark Colligan; and four brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her sister Marilyn Schroeder, children, Darla (Darrell) Morris, Timothy Monter, Jean Colligan, and JoLene Monter (Aaron Miller); daughter-in-law Lisa Monter; grandchildren, Linsey (Kelly) Denmark, Joshua Monter (Carly), Brianna Loss (Justin), Julia Monter, Jessica Winberg (Mike), Max Colligan, Matthew Monter, Samuel Colligan, Jude Monter and Luke Monter; great-grandchildren Mason Denmark and Savana Denmark; Coraline Monter, Leighton Loss, sister-in-law Julia VanMeter; and many nieces, nephews and other friends.

A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, March 26th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 S 84th street, Lincoln, Nebraska. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska.
