

Eldon Richard Henning, age 90, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Eldon was born June 4, 1934 in Crete, NE. The son of Dick and Vera (Behrens) Henning. He was baptized and confirmed in faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete, NE.
He graduated from Crete High School and attended Doane College. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On September 4, 1960 he was united in marriage to Carol Meyer. They were blessed with four children Alan, Ann, Lori, and Julie. Eldon served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. He was employed with the Department of Social Services, State of Nebraska, and the Lincoln Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was employed part-time with Union Bank. Eldon served on various community boards and was a member of the American Legion. He has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on many boards and committees.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Carol; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and JoLynne Henning (Cincinnati, OH); daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Blaise Wolfrum (Barrington Hills, IL); daughter, Lori Henning (Lincoln, NE); and daughter, Julie Henning (Lincoln, NE); grandchildren, Brian, Ella, Sander, and William Henning, Kayla, Jenna, Eric, and Alec Wolfrum, and Arianna Henning Huber; sister, Darleen Dittmer (Crete, NE); brothers, Loren and Arnold Henning (Crete, NE); sister-in-law and spouse, Barbara and Roger Chambers (Davenport, IA); along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family graveside services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
