

Eleanor M. (Kastl) Schroeder, 93, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on July 25, 2026. She was born February 10, 1933, to Stanley and Edith (Hentges) Kastl of Weston, Nebraska. She grew up as one of seven children, with three older and three younger siblings.
Eleanor was a factory worker at Goodyear in Lincoln, where she met her husband, Harvey Schroeder. Together they were long-time members of United Rubber Workers #286, reflecting a steady commitment to the work that shaped so much of their lives. Eleanor retired in 1994 and remained a member of the URW retired club. She was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 4755.
Eleanor and Harvey were married February 9, 1958, and raised their four children in Lincoln.
Family was at the center of Eleanor’s life, and she especially loved having everyone together at her home for Sunday dinners. Eleanor and Harvey also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii. She was an Elvis Presley fan, and in later years, while a resident at Asher Point, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles and playing Bingo.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her son, Mark; her parents; and three siblings, Marie, Lucille and Denny. She is survived by three of her children: daughter Diane (Ron) Orr and their children Rhonda (Raul) Luevano, Sheri (Steve) Elmshaeuser and Jodi (Richard) Shadden; daughter Sharon (Hugh) Bowen and their children Mike Bowen and Kelly (Jim) Lance; and son Steve (Julie) Schroeder and their children Stephanie Schroeder and Mark Schroeder. She is also survived by her late son Mark’s children Nicole Schroeder and Scott (Jamie) Schroeder, along with 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 am. Immediately following the funeral service will be a committal service in Lincoln Memorial Park. After the service in the park, a reception will be held at the funeral home in the lower level.
