She met Leonard M. Barton at a coffee shop while he was stationed near Parsons, TN during WWII. They were married in 1942 in Rossville, GA. Shortly after he was deployed to the Pacific Theater Campaigns during WWII and returned home in August 1945. They settled in Parsons, TN and later moved to Houston, TX and finally settled in Lincoln, NE where they raised their family.
Louise retired from the State of Nebraska. She worked at the Lincoln Regional Center for over 40 years. Louise attended Plains Baptist Church in Lincoln and volunteered at the Veterans Hospital. She enjoyed being around people and was gifted with lots of compassion allowing her to help with elder care in the evenings. Louise had a passion for people and loved flowers, gardening with a great sense of pride, thrift shopping, crafts, cooking and so much more. She enjoyed traveling and going to events. Some of her favorites were camping and casino trips. Louise had faith as big as her personality and always put her family first. She loved spending time with her children, dancing with Leonard and cooking big meals together.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard M. Barton, daughter-in-law Sherry Barton, grandson Robert W. Barton, siblings: Donna, Jessie and Earl.
Louise is survived by her loving children: Robert "Bob" L. Barton, JoAnn Adair and her husband Terry, Vernon "Bud" E. Barton; grandchildren: James "Jimmy" A. Dockery and his wife Sue, Julie Ann Payne and her husband Chris, Jerrod C. Barton and his wife Kayla, Justin R. Barton and his wife Melissa; nephew David E. Johnson and his wife Sandy; 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
