Fritz attended public school in Crete, Nebraska. He worked at Crete Mills and then worked for the Lincoln Fire Department. During that time, he volunteered at the Southwest Fire District and Milford Volunteer Fire Department. Fritz also worked at Milford Public Schools as head of transportation (School Bus Driver).
Fritz enjoyed the interactions with the kids that rode his bus.
Fritz was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling to his favorite state, Colorado. Fritz enjoyed spending time with his grandkids in various activities such as fishing, gardening and taking family vacations.
Fritz is preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Violet (Berry); brother's Eldon, John, Robert and James, sister-in-law Marsha Vernon and brother-in-law Daryl Blue; granddaughter Abigail Hansen and grandson Jackson Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, of 57 years Marsha (Klozenbucher) Vernon of Pleasant Dale; Children Ursula (Craig) Hansen of Lincoln and Tarrence Vernon of Papillion; grandchildren Nolan Hansen of Greenville, North Carolina and Natalie Hansen of Lincoln and Sam Vernon of Lincoln. His brothers Bill Vernon of Crete, Donnie Vernon of Crete and sister Deb (Vernon) Hammond of Lincoln.
A visitation for Fritz will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 7105 Cass Ave, Denton, Nebraska 68339.
A family burial will occur at a later date.
