George P Becker

George Becker, 91, Lincoln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on December 6, 2018. George was born on August 26, 1927 in Friend, NE. He was the youngest child of Henry and Amelia Becker who were German-Russian immigrants. When he was nine his family moved to Lincoln. When George was 20, he enlisted in the Air Force in June of 1948; and, was honorably discharged in June of 1952. He was very proud of his service during the Korean War in which he was stationed in Bangor, Maine. George married Glennis on October 16, 1949 and they were married 67 years. George was a life-long paint contractor. He started his own business called Professional Painting in 1972. During his career, he was a member of PDCA (Painting & Decorating Contractors of America). He retired in 1995 and sold the business. His work ethic was admired by many, and he continued to work well into his 80’s. George had many interests. He liked to camp, fish, and hunt pheasants. George and Glennis enjoyed many activities together as well. They loved square dancing, attending Husker football games, traveling, summers at their cabin, and they were snow birds during the winter months. George was also devoted to his church and family. George had many great qualities. He was kind, caring, and a great friend to everyone. He had a great sense of humor which he kept until the end. He was also the best caretaker for Glennis in her final years. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Survived by daughters, Connie (Rick) Ernstmeyer, Debbie (Gene) Enderle, Lori Lucchino and Diane (Craig) Slaby; nine grandchildren, Karen & Jason (Ernstmeyer) Breitbarth, Kelley Ernstmeyer, Stacey & Jared (Enderle) Kvapil, Jamie & Adam (Enderle) Benash, Nick & Summer Lucchino, Brent, Brad, Brett, and Ben Slaby; eight great grandchildren, Katelyn Breitbarth, Olivia Teague, Chase & Blake Kvapil, Parker & Riley Benash, and Nico & Rocco Lucchino; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Toby. Preceded in death by his wife, Glennis; parents, and siblings. Funeral service Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. and visitation with family one hour prior to service at Southwood Lutheran Church, 4301 Wilderness Hills Blvd. Memorials to Southwood Lutheran Church or Capital Humane Society.
