Gladys Maxine Helm (Rolfsmeyer), known as Gladi, of Lincoln, NE passed away on September 2, 2026 at the age of 84. She is survived by her loving sons Scott (Lesley) Helm and Douglas Helm, and her three grandchildren, John, Addison, and Maria. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Rolfsmeyer, and her sister Diane Rolfsmeyer, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Helm, her parents Gerald and Elsie Rolfsmeyer of Milford, NE and two sisters, Eleanore Ficke and Doris Stinson.
Gladi was a life-long learner and educator who was devoted to her students. Throughout her career she taught Home Economics at Milford High School, at Lincoln East, Lincoln Southeast and Lincoln High Schools, and ended her career in education as the Principal of Raymond Junior-Senior High School. She was regularly nominated for various teacher of the year awards, including winning the Scottish Rite Distinguished Teacher of the Year award in 1988.
Gladi earned her Ph.D. in Education and Family Resources from the University of Nebraska in 1987. She was an active member of Southgate United Methodist Church, and was a proud Nebraskan, working with the Nebraska State Historical Society among other groups.
Visitation with family 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 South 14th Street.
Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Southgate United Methodist Church, 3500 Pioneers Boulevard, Lincoln, NE 68506 at 10:00am. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 6800 S. 14th Street thereafter.
