Gloria Genevieve Papik

Gloria G. Papik entered her eternal home peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, May 24, 2015. Gloria G. Papik was born November 8, 1929 in Sioux City, Iowa to Lawrence and Della Jacobsen. After high school graduation she attended Wayne State College where she received a teaching degree. She began teaching in Laurel, Nebraska where she met her “to be” husband, Elvin “Al” Papik, where he also began his teaching and coaching career. They married in 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa, and enjoyed 63 years together building a family, treasured friendships and lifelong memories. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother. She also worked many years as a clerical assistant at Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and for the State of Nebraska while residing in Lincoln with Al. She gave many of her years to raising and loving her two children, James Papik of Stromsburg and Marcia Henning of Roca. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Della and Lawrence Jacobsen. She is survived by her loving husband Al, her children Jim and his wife, Marta, and Marcia and her husband, Ray, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Teammates Mentoring Program or the Doane College Athletic Department.
