Grace A. Boward-- beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, and friend— passed away peacefully at her home in Princeton, NE on Sunday. She was born in Hallam, NE on April 17th, 1921 to Gus and Ella Asseln, and was raised in the Hallam area. She married William Boward on October 11, 1939, and they raised three children—Kay, Larry, and Jeffrey. They owned and operated the Princeton Tavern (precariously positioned next door to the Princeton Church) for 35 years. Gracie--as she was known to those who knew and loved her (and everyone who knew her loved her)--was legendary for her kind heart, upbeat disposition, joyous cackle, and unapologetic butchering of the English language. She had an enormous love for her family, treasured friends and her independence and she could often be found putzing around on her acreage, mowing her lawn, and much to her children’s dismay: perched atop a ladder washing her windows. Though we mourn her passing, we treasure the time we had, and bask in the love and light that radiated from her.
