Janyce Jean (Bullock) Person, 86, was born on January 30,1940, in Falls City, Nebraska, to Gene and Naomi (Mosiman) Bullock. She grew up in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1958. After graduation, she attended Northwest Missouri State and John J. Pershing College.
On June 5, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, forever dance partner, and the love of her life, Bob Person. Together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in Beatrice, Nebraska, where they raised their family. Janyce stayed home to raise her children and then worked for many years at the Beatrice Public Library and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Beatrice. After moving to Lincoln, she became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Janyce found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed bookkeeping, reading, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting, and playing Canasta. She took great pride in keeping an organized and welcoming home and was always ready to tackle a home improvement project alongside Bob. She also looked forward to spending winters in Arizona and was a devoted Husker football season ticket holder for more than six decades, attending games since 1959. She faithfully cheered on the Cornhuskers and especially loved “The Pride of All Nebraska,” the Cornhusker Marching Band.
More than anything, Janyce cherished her family. She lit up around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was an enthusiastic, ever-present part of their lives, rarely missing a game, recital, milestone, or family gathering. Her love for her family was at the heart of everything she did.
Janyce will be remembered for her quiet kindness, unwavering devotion to her family, and the warmth and encouragement she freely shared with everyone she met.
Janyce is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Person, of Lincoln, Nebraska; her daughter, Susan Horne (Virgil) of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Susan’s children: Seth Horne and his children, Baker and Denver; Eli Horne; and Ethan Horne (Shelby) and their son, Owen, all of Lincoln. She is also survived by her son, Steve Person (Joan Babinski) of Durango, Colorado; her brother, Bill Bullock (Betsy) of Mesa, Arizona; her nephew, Ted Bullock; her niece, Courtney Vanderwalker (Marc) and their three children; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Malich (Ken) of Gig Harbor, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Naomi Bullock.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 17, 2026 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Beatrice Public Library.
