Jared A. Norris

Jared was born on April 1, 1988, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to William and Gayle Norris.

Jared was known for his quick sense of humor, animated storytelling, and gentle heart. He had a special love for animals and throughout the years brought home many stray animals in need of a little extra love and care. Jared loved golfing with his dad, nature, fishing, hunting, watching comedies, and was a loyal Husker fan. Jared was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and had the opportunity to go to several races in person, his favorite being the Daytona 500. He was a great student in school from elementary through college. Jared was part of the Golden Key International Honor Society, UNL Dean’s List, Nebraska Environmental Action Coalition and Science Focus Program KEY Club Member.

Above all, Jared cherished his family. He was an incredible uncle to his nephew, Cohen, and niece, Kennedy, and the love he had for them will remain a lasting part of their lives and memories.

As we remember Jared and celebrate the beautiful moments we shared with him. We also acknowledge the fierce battle he fought with Alcohol Use Disorder. The arduous struggle with this disease was a significant part of much of his adult life, but it was never the whole of who he was. Jared was a kind, funny, gentle man who brought laughter, compassion, and unforgettable stories into the lives of those around him. His toiling will not erase the love he reciprocated or the memories he leaves behind.

Jared is survived by his parents, William D. Norris and Gayle L. Norris; his sister, Jenna Norris (Brian Derr); nephew, Cohen Shipp; and niece, Kennedy Derr; many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Preceded by his grandparents, Gerald and Violet Allen, William (Red) Norris, Betty and Duane Folkner; Uncles Delbert Allen and DeEldon (Chip) Norris.

A service celebrating Jared’s life will be held on September 22, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Those who knew Jared will remember his laughter, his stories, his love for animals and the outdoors, and, most of all, the kind and loving soul he was.

Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation.
