

John Henry Bittner, lovingly known as Jack, was born in Wooster, Ohio to Roy Donald and Catherine Bittner on July 12, 1938. He passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at the age of 87, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Jack was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He had a wonderful sense of humor, the kind that made conversations lighter and gatherings warmer. Above all else, his wife Lorraine (Pickhinke) Bittner was the love of his life, and together they shared a deep bond built on love, laughter, and shared adventures. Jack also enjoyed traveling and cherished the many memories made along the way with those closest to him.
Jack proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, Ordinance Corps, and later retired from Woodman Accident & Life, where he spent many years dedicated to his work and colleagues.
He is survived by his children: Tom Bittner; Cathy (Mike) Diercks; Barb (Doug) Drevo; Cathy Luchtel; Gary (Ellen) Luchtel; Patrick (Shiva) Luchtel; and John (Stephanie) Luchtel: grandchildren: Nikki Diercks, Shelby Diercks, Joel (Brenna) Bittner, Riley Bittner, Doug (Jessarae) Drevo, Ashley (Sam) Drevo, Taylor (Victoria) Breden, Justine Breden, Anton (Abigail) Luchtel, and Ella Luchtel, and great-grandchildren: Ty Drevo, Mason Drevo, Marshall Drevo, Peter Bittner, Stetson Thies, and Lucy Bittner, sister: Mary (Fred) Cheney, sister in law: Pauline Bittner and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, stepson Robert M Luchtel, his brother Bill Bittner, great granddaughter Martha Jane Bittner and his parents.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, February 5, at 10:00 a.m., also at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 South 14th St..
