Joyce Marie Braun

Joyce Marie (Taylor) Braun passed away on March 8th 2023 at 78 years of age. She was born in Norfolk, NE to Harold James Taylor and Angela Catherine Brugman. Joyce Graduated from Albion High School in 1963, After High School Joyce went to Bahners Beauty Academy in Fremont, NE graduating in 1964. Joyce followed her career path by starting a job at Alta Schaffer’s Salon in Albion, Nebraska. Had her own Salon in Humphrey, Nebraska. Customer Service at Hinky Dinky in Lincoln, Nebraska and assistant at insurance office in Lincoln, Nebraska. Being a woman of faith Joyce was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church Lincoln Nebraska where she was part of the Altar Society and took part in the Perpetual Hour of Adoration. Brent and Joyce were members at Ashland Country Club where she ran many successful and fun golf tournaments, she was part of the Inner Club as well. She played in the women’s golf league at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln. Joyce had many amazing achievement in the full life that she had led. She was Majorette for the Marching Band at Albion High School, she operated a Beauty Shop in Humphrey, Nebraska before moving back to Albion to work at Alta’s Beauty Shop. She won the Miss Albion Beauty Pageant in 1965 and was awarded Miss Congeniality. She participated in the State Beauty Pageant in York, Nebraska. After her marriage to Brent Braun in 1965 she worked in the accounting office of the Hinky-Dinky Food Store in Lincoln, Nebraska and then for a State Farm Agency in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was an avid golfer and loved to go to the boats and play the slots, play cards, Keno and make crafts. Her Miss Congeniality award was well deserved as she never met a stranger. You only needed to meet her once and then you were best friends. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion for anyone she knew. Her favorite part was sending cards or messages to anyone by mail. In honor of her love for sending cards, she was given a card shower for her 78th birthday and surpassed her goal of receiving more than 78 cards on February 23, 2023. Joyce is survived by her Husband Brent Braun, Son Barton (Kerri) Braun, Daughter Jennifer (Dave) Keitges, Sisters Joan Krause, Ginger (Keith) Marr, Debbie (Jerome) Pizinger, Brother Tim Taylor, Grandchildren, Chase, Logan, Ally Keitges, Lauren, Cole, Nolan Braun. Sister-in-law Patti Taylor, Linda Taylor. Joyce preceded in death by parents Harold and Angela (Brugman) Taylor, Brothers Bob Taylor, Don Taylor, Sisters Jan Otredosky, MaryJane Taylor. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. 1720 Lake St. Lincoln, NE 68502. Private family burial at Yankee Hill Cemetery Pallbearers will be her beloved grandchildren, Chase Keitges, Lauren Braun, Logan Keitges, Cole Braun, Allyson Keitges, and Nolan Braun. In lieu of flowers please address all memorials to the family for future designation.
