

Judith C Amber, 80, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully June 21,2016 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Denver, CO on August 24, 1935 to Charles Dean and Ruth (Fowler) Cook. She grew up in Colorado and graduated from East Denver High School in 1953. She obtained undergraduate degrees from William Woods College in Fulton, MO and Drury College in Springfield, MO. In 1973 she graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with a Master's Degree in Adult Education, a minor in Gerontology, and later received her Certificate of Specialization in Gerontology from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. In 1979 she was licensed to practice as a Nursing Home Administrator. Over the years Judy worked for the Lincoln Regional Center, Southeast Community College, Administrator-in-training at Tabitha nursing home, and the Nebraska Department on Aging. In 1961 Judy married Charles Mitchell Amber in Colombia, MO. She is survived by her son, David (Angela) Amber, and grandkids John Amber, Jordyn Mackie, and Seth Mackie of Waverly, NE. Daughter Rebecca (Michael) Pella, and grandkids Abigail and Lillian Pella of Lincoln, NE. Brother Jarrett F. Cook and nephew Jarrett A. Cook, both of Bayfield, CO. Niece Tina Cook of France, many beloved cousins and other family members. Judy's commitment and love to support her church was very important to her. She served in a variety of functions within the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska; she attended state and national conventions; and served on committees state-wide and within local parishes. Her countless talents and gifts will be remembered at St. Mark's, Holy Trinity, and St. Matthew's Episcopal churches. Judy loved spending time with her family and her close friends. She enjoyed traveling the world, hosting dinner parties, collecting antiques, and gardening. Judy was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and attended various operas, the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, performances at the Lied Center, and the Lincoln Community Playhouse. She also supported the arts with her volunteer work and fundraising. Judy was also recognized for serving on 5 Global Volunteer programs which focused on improving the lives of children in Romania, Spain, Poland and St. Lucia. Memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 28 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 2325 S. 24th St Lincoln. Memorials can be made to the family for future designation.
