Karen (Ward) Mulkerrin, 78, passed away at her home on June 7, 2026. Born April 17, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Charles Ward and Marjorie Schultz. She graduated from Lincoln High School.
In 1969, Karen married James Mulkerrin in Omaha. Together they made their home there and built a family that included two children, James, Jr. and Kristin. Each summer, Karen and her family visited James’s family in Maine, a tradition of keeping loved ones close across distance and time.
Karen devoted her life to home and family as a homemaker, offering steady care and a giving spirit. In countless quiet ways, her kindness and generosity were felt—not in grand gestures, but in the comfort and the thoughtful attention she gave to others.
Those who knew Karen will remember a wonderful wife and mother, and a caregiver. She was a private person, marked by a quiet sense of humor. She was known to make fun of how her name really was Karen Mulkerrin. She held a special affection for animals—especially her beloved fur babies—whose companionship brought her comfort and joy.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kristin. She is survived by her husband, James, her son James (Elizabeth) Mulkerrin, Jr., grandchildren Elisa (Kobe) Rhodes and Michael Mulkerrin, her brother Richard Ward and sister Lori Lada.
Karen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her life.
Karen will be honored with a private family service. The family requests that any memorials be designated for the family for later designation.
