Kathleen M. Machal, age 87, of Lincoln, NE passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Kathleen Marie Holmes was born February 24, 1936 at Arcadia, Nebraska to Paul and Wilda (Williams) Holmes. She graduated from Polk High School in 1954. Following graduation she moved to Lincoln and worked at the State Farm corporate office. Kathleen was united in marriage to Marlin Junge on October 26, 1958 in Polk, NE. Together they had four children. Following their marriage the couple moved to Fort Collins, then to Arvada, CO and later to Wheat Ridge, CO. Kathleen managed the household and her children’s activities.

On December 25, 1980 Kathleen was united in marriage to Godfrey Machal. They resided in Newman Grove, NE where Godfrey was a music teacher at the high school. They were married for six years until Godfrey’s death on September 24, 1987. She resided in Lincoln, Stromsburg and David City, NE before returning to live in Lincoln.

She was a collector of Santa Claus cookie jars, Raggedy Ann’s and vintage glassware. She enjoyed being outdoors and planting beautiful flowers. She enjoyed her iPad, checking Facebook for pictures of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Nebraska football and volleyball fan and proudly wore her Cornhusker t-shirts and jacket. She loved green grapes and Blue Bunny ice cream bars. She was caring and generous, fun and silly.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Paula Burnham, her husband Randy and their children, Jonathan and wife Beth, Sarah Bloch and husband Bryce all of Lincoln, NE; Julie Flechs, of Omaha, NE; Doug Junge and wife Kim, of Norfolk, NE, and their children, Molly Hoskins and husband Beau, of Omaha, NE, and Alyson Villamonte and husband Vinny of Gretna, NE; great-grandchildren Jacob, Emily and Michael Burnham, August Villamonte and Oscar Bloch. Also left to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews and other family members. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Kempf, brothers Robert, John and Gaylen Holmes, and her daughter Carol Annemarie Junge.
