

Kenneth “Kenny” Darwin Sohl completed his earthly pilgrimage and went to his eternal reward on May 31, 2022. Kenny was born October 21, 1941 to Kenneth P.H. Sohl and Eleanor A. (Powley) Sohl in Fremont, NE the oldest of three children. Kenny married Janice Mae Porter on October 12, 1963 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. Kenny served in the Army Reserve from 1961-1966. In 1969 they welcomed their first child, Vicky. In 1971 they moved to Lincoln where Kenny worked along with his aunt, uncle, and cousin as a furniture upholsterer and picture framer. In 1976 their second daughter, Brenda was born. Kenny worked as an upholsterer until his retirement in 2014. For several years he taught a course through Southeast Community College on how to frame your own pictures. He and Janice enjoyed tending to their very large vegetable and flower garden. Kenny also enjoyed grilling and using his smoker to make excellent beef jerky. Kenny also enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and music. He encouraged his children to learn to play instruments and to sing, as well as cheering them on in their sports interests. He passed these on to his grandchildren as well. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Eleanor Sohl, his brother Roger Sohl, sister Susan Parkert, his Father-in-Law Harold Porter, Mother-in-law Lolita Porter, and sister-in-law Dee Ann Porter. He is survived by his wife Janice (Porter) Sohl, daughter Vicky Sohl, daughter Brenda Neemann and her husband Mark Neemann, and grandchildren Nathaniel Neemann, Brooke Neemann, and Noah Neemann; brother-in-law Marvin and sister-in-law Janet Porter.
