Kenneth R. Westphal, 77, of Lincoln, passed away October 1, 2016. He was born in Lincoln on April 2, 1939, to Walter and Clara (Bartzat) Westphal. He had two brothers – Orville and Wilber – and four sisters – Loraine, Sharon, Jean and Jane. Ken started working at Cushman’s Motors in the late 1950’s. It was there he met his good friend, Delton Buis, with whom he spent a lot of time, both at work and outside of work. It was through Delton that Ken met the love of his life, Beverley Ehrlich, whose sister was married to Delton. Ken and Bev were married on March 11, 1966 and were married until her death in 2011. Their union brought children Robin (Tim) Klein, Aaron Westphal, Tanya Westphal; grandchildren Tony (Mariah) Klein, Alison (Kameron) Klein, Isaiah Westphal, Khalia Westphal and Natalya Westphal; and great grandchildren Danielle Klein, E’naijah Reed, Eva Reed and Walker Klein. Ken spent his remaining years with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom he loved so very much. Ken worked very hard, and was so proud of his career at Cushman’s, which allowed him to make a good living while allowing Beverley to stay home and raise their children. If you have spent even 5 minutes with Ken, you have heard about working at Cushman’s! Ken worked at Cushman’s until he retired in 1992. Ken enjoyed working on cars, talking about cars, woodworking, camping, spending time with his family and being a loving, hardworking man for his family. He also enjoyed all things sports, but mostly football. He loved watching football games with his family and reminiscing about when he played in high school. He will be missed by those who loved him.
