Larry Lee Rocole, 75, of Hebron, died peacefully on November 16, following a too short battle with brain cancer. He was born in Geneva, Ne., on July 8, 1950, the second in a line of four boys to Warren and Doris (Brower) Rocole. Larry often said his father referred to the boys as 1, 2, 3, and 4, and fondly remembered being known as No. 2.
After graduating from Geneva High School in 1968, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he trained to become an electrical engineer. He was assigned to the nuclear submarine, USS Will Rogers, where he served during the Vietnam War from March 1971 to December 1974. He was honorably discharged early to return home to help his mother take care of his ill father. From there he went to work for the Lincoln Telegraph and Telephone Company in Geneva, Plattsmouth, and Hebron for the next 32 years.
On Valentine's Day in 1981, Larry married Jacque in Geneva. The couple eventually settled in Hebron to raise their two children, Conner and Lary Leigh. Larry was an avid fan of their accomplishments, always offering tremendous support in their endeavors in childhood and into adulthood. When the grandchildren came along, Larry openly backed each and every one of their achievements. He was a proud "Pop Pop."
Larry enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, and travel. After his retirement, Larry and Jacque spent many years taking road trips across the country opting for fair weather destinations as Larry preferred hot, sunny locations to any others.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Ruth Rocole and Tom and Annie Brower; parents Warren and Doris Rocole; brother Dennis Rocole; In-laws Ron and Nora Karrle; brother-in-law Jeff Karrle and nephew B.J. Rocole.
He is survived by his wife Jacque of Hebron; son Conner (Ann) of Lincoln; daughter Lary Leigh (Dalton) Holtzen of Bruning; four grandchildren, Addison and Amelia Rocole and Gail and Graham Holtzen; brothers Galen (Kathy) Rocole of Milford and Bruce (Pat) Rocole of Exeter; brothers- and sisters-in-law John (Wendy) Karrle of Oregon, Scott (Lisa) Karrle of Tennessee, Kimberly (Michael) Da Ronco of California, and Twila Rocole of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
It was Larry's wish to be cremated, and a private Committal of Ashes will take place at a later date.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Club in Geneva. All friends and family are welcome to attend. Memorials in Larry’s honor are designated to Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Condolences may be left at www.lincolnfh.com
