Larry Gene Winslow, 78 of Lincoln, surrounded by those who loved him went to be with his parents, Lewis and Mary (Buresh) Winslow and his infant son, Nicky Alan Winslow, in Heaven on Friday evening February 15, 2019. Larry leaves behind the love of his life, Jeanette, with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage in August.
Larry is also survived by his “one and only” daughter, Angela of Lincoln; 2 grandsons, Jordan P. Reinke of Lincoln; and Dylan N. (Jackie) Reinke of Tucson, AZ; 4 great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Faye Henrichs of Milford; numerous nieces and nephews; Angela’s best friend of over 35 years, and quasi-brother, Jonathan Todd (JT) Powell of Aurora, CO who became just like a son to both Larry and Jeanette; and Larry’s beloved lap-mate, Mollimae, the family’s Wheaten Terrier.
Larry graduated in first full 3-year class from Lincoln Southeast High School in 1958. He went on to become a career employee of over 50 years for the Department of Roads-State of Nebraska, retiring as a Project Manager in 2002. He enjoyed his retirement briefly before going back to work at Olsson Associates Civil Engineering Firm, where he worked for another 10 years, until he finally re-retired in 2013.
Larry proudly served his country and Nebraska by serving in the NE Air Guard from 1964-1970. He was honorably discharged at rank of Staff Sergeant-Communications Service.
Larry’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be no services. A private family gathering will be held at the time of his inurnment.
