Mrs. Laverda E. Arow

May 28, 1926 – March 29, 2018

LaVerda passed away on March 29, 2018 peacefully at Sumner Place in Lincoln at the age of 91. LaVerda was the second child of Louis and Louise Deterding of Arnold, Nebraska. She attended Arnold High School graduating in 1944 and taught country school for 2 years. She married Tom Arow in 1946 and moved to Lincoln. They had two daughters, Rebecca Ann and Sara Jayne. LaVerda worked at ISCO for over 20 years as a Sales Supervisor. She was actively involved in her church, school activities, sewing, loved to dance with Tom, playing cards with friends, NU sports, especially Women’s volleyball and KC Royals baseball and collected birds.

LaVerda is survived by her daughter, Sara Arow of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom in 2007, daughter, Rebecca Wilcox in 2018, siblings, Stanley, Delpha and Joy, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast United Church of Christ, 6200 Adams Street. A light lunch will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, 1222 South 27th Street, Lincoln, NE 68502 for the bird habitat in honor of LaVerda.
