Leona Mae Scheffert

Leona Mae Scheffert, age 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. She was born Leona Mae Scharton, November 10, 1926 to Cecil R & Alta L. Scharton. She is one of six children, four girls and two boys. Leona grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School.

Leona worked at the Elgin Watch Factory, where she met George Scheffert. They were married on Sept 12, 1948. They had four sons: Ernest, Craig, Jeff & Doug. She went to work at Lincoln Northeast High School, first in the Library then working on the clerical staff in the office, she retired during the 1990's.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil & Alta Scharton; husband, George Scheffert; son, Jeffry; daughters-in-law, Dawn and Shirley; grandchildren, Derek & Carly; sisters Lucille and Winnifred, and brothers Raymond and Robert.

Leona is survived by son, Ernest; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Deborah, Doug and Linda; granddaughter, Kortney Scheffert; grandson, Brian Cummings and granddaughter-in-law Alyssa Mayer; great grandson Qa'Preece Wells, and great granddaughters, Kennady Scheffert and River Cummings.

Visitation: 2-6pm Sunday, March 13, 2022. Funeral: 10am Monday, March 14, 2022 both at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences to www.lincolnfh.com.
