Lorraine E. Bittner was born in Howells, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Anton and Mary (Gall) Pickhinke.
She attended school in Howells and Columbus, Nebraska. She graduated from St. Bonaventure High School (now called Scotus Central Catholic) in Columbus.
After graduation, she moved to Carroll, Iowa with her parents. She began working at a bank. Years later, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and married John H. “Jack” Bittner.
Upon retirement from Smith Barney, she became involved in volunteer work with the Food Bank of Lincoln and Cedars Home for Kids.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling with her husband. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Jack Bittner; her children Cathy Luchtel, Gary (Ellen) Luchtel, Patrick (Shiva) Luchtel, John (Stephanie) Luchtel, Tom (Joanie) Bittner, Cathy (Mike) Diercks, and Barb (Doug) Drevo; her grandchildren Taylor (Victoria) Breden, Justine Breden, Nikki Diercks, Shelby Diercks, Joel (Brenna) Bittner, Doug (Jessarae) Drevo, Ashley (Sam) Drevo, Anton Luchtel, Ella Luchtel, and Riley Bittner; her great grandchildren Ty Drevo, Mason Drevo, Marshall Drevo, Peter Bittner, and Stetson Thies; her sisters Agnes (Mike) Placzek, Sister Rita-Mary Ann Pickhinke, Gladys (Jerry) Collison, Delores Kingston, Janet (Gordon) Welch, Diane Chadwell.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her son Robert M. Luchtel; her infant brother Robert Pickhinke; her sister Arlene DeBoer; her great granddaughter Martha Jane Bittner; and her parents.
