Lowell Ernest Wurdeman was born January 16, 1928 at Leigh, Nebraska, to Ernst and Bertha Wurdeman. He attended Wattsville grade school, Monroe High School graduating in 1945, and South Dakota State College for one year. Lowell enlisted in the United States Army serving two years. Returning home, he began farming north of Monroe. After being united in marriage with Geraldine Borchers on June 10, 1951, they were blessed with three children. In 1969 they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and become members of Faith Lutheran Church. Lowell was employed by Lincoln Coca-Cola and retired in 1993 after 23 years. Lowell’s hobbies included reading, playing cards, and dancing. In 1979, Lowell became an Amateur Radio Operator and was a storm spotter for the National Weather Service helping with communications for the Nebraska State Games, the Lincoln Marathon, and many other public service activities.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Geri); children, Glenda Clare (Steve) and Randy of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Aaron Clare (Ann) and Tessa Riley (Devin); and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Louisa Riley. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerald Allen; sisters; Delores and Lorna and brother, Darrel. Memorials suggested to Orphan Grain Train Flood Relief Fund.
