

Lyle graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960. He attended the Nebraska Vocational Technical School in Milford and graduated with a degree in Auto Body Technology. He served in the US Army National Guard for six years. He worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads, and then joined the Engineer Office with the City of Lincoln where he stayed for 37 years and worked up to Senior Engineering Specialist.
Lyle married Cheryl Mueting on August 26, 1972. They had two children, Aaron Goodenkauf and Debra (Goodenkauf) Zwiener. He enjoyed his four grandchildren, Joel, Trevor, Bryson, and Aivla Zwiener.
Lyle loved spending time with his family and made sure to plan one-on-one outings with each grandchild.
Lyle was active in his church and served in many areas of ministry over the years. He loved researching and teaching the bible. He also enjoyed hiking, woodworking, and range shooting.
He will be remembered for how he loved to share the good news of Jesus with anyone he crossed paths with.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl, son Aaron, daughter Debra, son-in-law William, grandchildren Joel, Trevor, Bryson, and Aivla, other family members, nephews, and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Marjorie Goodenkauf, sister Judy Fowler, brother-in-law Dean Fowler, and nephew Anthony Fowler.
A memorial service for Lyle will take place on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at 11 AM at Indian Hills Community Church, 1000 South 84th Street, Lincoln, NE. Services will be livestreamed and a link will be updated at a later time. Memorials are in the care of the family for future designation or to Indian Hills Community Church Sound Words.
