She was a lifelong Nebraskan living in both Lincoln and Fremont. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Leroy Wollen who died on May 19, 2023 after their 71st wedding anniversary. They were married on April 5, 1952 and had five children: Roxanna Wollen, Diana Wollen Panitz, Dean Wollen, George Wollen and John Wollen.
Margaret is survived by her five children as well as seven Grandchildren (Shannon Goodwin, Joseph Wollen, Heather Peterson, Jason Wollen, Celestria Wollen, Kirk Panitz, Brandon Wollen), five Great Grandchildren (Treyvan Wollen, Marcus Panitz, Karina Peterson, Liam Panitz and Loryn Peterson), and one great great granddaughter to be born later this year. She is also is survived by her sisters Roberta Scheaufele Olsen, Mary Scheaufele Skiles and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The two words that describe Margaret best are family and caring. As a teenager, she cared for her cousin Parry during the war years (WW2). After she was married, she cared for her husband and each of her children. When her parents aged, she cared for them until they passed. When her children were grown and had children of their own, she cared for her grandchildren in an unofficial daycare. Margaret also cared for her community. She taught Sunday school to all ages at her church, United Lutheran. She was an active member until illness stopped her. She has worked many different jobs at the Holiday Inn, University of Nebraska, and Wesleyan. Her last job was at Walgreens where she worked until her mid-seventies. In her free time, she was an avid bird watcher with many feeders. She replenished her feeders regularly (with help) until a few days before her death. Margaret and Richard spent many hours in their retirement researching family history as well.
