Ms. Marinelle Burling

She was the daughter of Angel and Feoneta Atkinson Garcia, and beloved wife of Alfred Joe Burling. She is survived by her four children: Nancy (David Johnson), Jeffery (Debora Denny), Marshal Duke, and Cory and survived by her seven grandchildren, Joseph, John, James, Thomas, Michael, Andrew, Joanna and two great grandchildren, Kaden and August.

After Joe’s sudden death in 1967, Marinelle raised her four children as a single parent. She worked for years helping others in need as an aide, caring for them with loving kindness. She was a woman of faith, with prayer as a cherished part of her day.

The phrase “young at heart” best described Marinelle.

Marinelle loved her family and enjoyed people, delighting everyone who knew her with her playful sense of humor. She was a generous woman who enjoyed a wide variety of pursuits: gardening, cooking, and crossword puzzles among them. Her love for cats was unparalleled.

She was proud of her Mexican heritage, teaching family recipes to her children they continue to enjoy.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.
