

Marjorie J. Bartels, 99, of Lincoln died Aug. 10th. She was born in Berwyn, Neb., to Elmer and Nellie Nelsen. She graduated from Berwyn High School in 1942 and the Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She was the last surviving member of her nursing class. In 1947 she married Dr. W.W. “Bart” Bartels. Bart and Marjorie were blessed to have a son, Mike and a daughter, Patty. She returned to work in 1966 as executive secretary of the Lancaster County Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association, continuing with its successor, the American Lung Association of Nebraska. In the 1980s she was secretary at Business Development Corporation of Nebraska. Marjorie was active in her nursing alumni association, was a Red Cross "gray lady" volunteer and belonged to Christ United Methodist Church. Her passions included taking care of the family dachshunds and her gardens. She much appreciated the dedicated staff and care she received while at Eastmont. Survivors include her children, Michael of Lincoln and Patricia of Minneapolis, three nieces, two nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers-in-law. Private family graveside services, with a memorial to be held later. Memorials to the Dr. W.W. and Marjorie J.
