Marvin Charles Meyer

Marvin Charles Meyer, age 89, of Hickman, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Marvin was born on the farm three miles east of Hallam, Nebraska, on June 28, 1935 to Fred Carl and Ruth (Lefferdink) Meyer.

Marvin was baptized and later confirmed on August 29, 1948 at the United Church of Christ in Hallam, Nebraska. In 1952 he graduated from high school in Hickman. Marvin married Irene Dusanek on March 21,1958 at the United Church of Christ in Friend, Nebraska. They celebrated 50 years of marriage, before her passing in 2008.

Marvin was a dairy and row crop farmer on the homestead of his great-grandparents, Dietrick and Dorothea (Warneke) Meyer who are buried at the Stockfelt Cemetery west of Hickman. Marvin loved fishing, gardening, cooking and sharing the fruits of his labor with all his family and card-playing buddies in Hickman.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary & Tanya (Bader) Meyer of Wolbach, Ron & Linda (Wells) Meyer of Hallam; grandchildren, Tiffany (Meyer) & Ryan Hemenway of Elgin, Megan (Meyer) & Taylor Scheer of St. Libory, William Meyer of Palmer, Brianna (Meyer) & Jake Jarosz of Louisville, Levi & Kayla Meyer of Lincoln, and Cassie Meyer of Paradise, TX; great-grandchildren, Lucas & Alexis Scheer, Hannah, John & Christopher Hemenway, Everett Jarosz, Blakely Meyer & Terrance Ney; and sister, JoAnn Brockhoff of Syracuse.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Dusanek, on September 17, 2008; his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Wilma (Meyer) Kuster and Wendel; and brother-in-law, Ervin Brockhoff.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family for later designation.

A memorial service for Marvin will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. Following the memorial service will be an inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 6700 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512.
