Mary W. Vidlak, age 95, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Mary was born in Lincoln on June 28, 1927 to Julia and Edward Patterson. She attended Sacred Heart and Cathedral High School in Lincoln where she graduated in June of 1945. She worked a variety of jobs around Lincoln before marrying Robert Vidlak on June 19, 1955. With him she had four children, Tom, Jim, Larry, and Lori. She was a homemaker, raising her children and supporting many of their extracurricular activities such as being a scout leader. She worked part time in the school cafeteria as the children got older.
After retirement, Mary spent many years studying her family's genealogy and volunteering at the State Historical Society. Eventually, she published the Vidlak and Patterson genealogy books.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws.
She is survived by her children Tom Vidlak, Jim (Lori) Vidlak, Larry (Melissa) Vidlak, Lori Thomas, and step-daughter Roxanne (Craig) Page; grandchildren Cambria Emanuel, Dustin Emanuel, Corey Vidlak, Trevor Vidlak, Randy Uribe, Jason Uribe, Nathan (Christina) Vidlak, Garrett (Cassie) Vidlak, Trisha (Nick) Riggle, Christi (Micah) Hansen, Jon Barnard, Jennifer Barnard, Blair Page, Chelsee Page, Roy Thompson, and Katy Thompson; great-grandchildren Cooper Vidlak, Ethan Vidlak, Kailey Vidlak, Chase Riggle, Maci Riggle, Tyler Riggle, Colton Hansen, and Laiken Hansen.
Visitation to be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 from 5-7pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Celebration of life will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 10am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S 14th St, Lincoln, NE 68512.
Interment Lincoln Memorial Park.
