Mary Wagner, 82 of Lincoln, went to be with her Lord April 23, 2019. She was born on April 29, 1936 to Dayton Francis and Selma M. Schmalzried in Lane County, Kansas. Mary attended school in Dighton and graduated from Dighton High School in 1953. She married Phillip Wagner on August 14, 1954 in Durant Oklahoma and together they raised four children, eventually retiring in Lincoln, Nebraska.
As a homemaker and mother of four children, Mary could always be found baking, gardening and sewing. She spent her later years caring for her husband Phillip, who passed away in 2000. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchild, and each one loved her kind heart and generous spirit. Her last few years were spent battling Parkinson's disease but that never killed her spirit. Mary spent her last two weeks in hospice with her family by her side rarely not having at least one of her children in the room with her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Ronald Schmalzried of Topeka Kansas, her children Phillip Wagner Jr. of Lincoln, Phyllis and Steve Klingforth of Blair, Paul and Cindy Wagner of Omaha, and Rudy and Jackie Wagner of Longmont Colorado. Grand-Children include Katie (Jeff) Maas, Alex Wagner, Molly Wagner and Ethan Wagner, Thea (Chad) Edmunds, Narissa ( Jack ) Bennett, Kylee (Chris) Brock, Kelsey (Brandon) Murphy, Adam Wagner, Rudy (Sheena) Wagner, Michaela Wagner, Dayton Wagner, Dillon Wagner. Sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. .
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Phillip, brothers Francis, Edward and Richard and grandson Daniel Phillip.
Memorial Services will be Friday, April 26, 2019 at 12:30 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home with visitation at 11:00 am prior to services. Lunch will be served after the graveside services.
