Matthew M. Gabel

Matthew Michael Gabel, 44, passed away on June 1, 2026. Born on August 26, 1981, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Matthew was the son of Michael Gabel and Roberta (Raymon) Gabel. He graduated from Lincoln East High School and remained closely connected to the Lincoln community throughout his life.

Matthew worked with Gabel Construction in Lincoln, Nebraska. In all he did, he carried a steady devotion to what mattered most to him—his family and his faith. He loved his family and loved the Lord, and those commitments shaped the way he lived and the way he will be remembered.

Matthew found joy in simple, shared moments: rollerblading, watching football, and frisbee golf. These interests reflected a life that valued laughter and the kind of companionship that turns ordinary days into lasting memories.

Matthew is survived by his father Michael (Brenda) Gabel and mother Roberta Gabel; his daughter, Madelyn Grace Gabel; his sisters, Emily Gabel and Shelly (Kyle) Schaffer; his nieces and nephews, Sienna, Kyson, Skyler & Jeton. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousin, and many friends.

A friends and family visitation will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 9, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home on June 9, 2026, at 10:00 am. A second service will be held, you may attend either or both.

A friends and family memorial service will be held on June 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Elevate Church at 82nd and Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln, Nebraska.

The family requests any memorials be given to Lincoln City Mission or Cedars Youth Services.
