Born in Clinton, Massachusetts, on November 28, 1949, to John and Helen Tierney, Maureen grew up in Massachusetts where she developed her love for the outdoors and adventure. She enjoyed being both a snow and swim instructor in her younger years and proudly attended the legendary Woodstock festival in 1969.
After moving to Milford, Nebraska, Maureen dedicated herself to being a full-time mother while also working part-time as a school bus driver. Later, she settled in Lincoln, where she had a long successful career in car part sales. She then met the love of her life, Denny Boyer. Together, they built a beautiful life on their acreage in Bennet, where Maureen enjoyed planting flowers, tending to their land, and decorating their dream cabin—especially during her favorite holiday, Christmas. There was nothing better than a good find at Goodwill and strolling through numerous craft shows during the holidays. She also enjoyed bringing snacks and dinner out to the boys during harvest and riding around for a couple of hours.
Maureen’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every gathering and many trips back to the East Coast to visit loved ones and to be near the water she adored. She and Denny shared many adventures together, including their shared passion for hot roddin’.
Maureen is survived by her forever love, Denny Boyer; her children Rebecca (Scott) Haggart, Jamie (Heather) Stender, Naomi (Matt) Chollar, and Brandon (Shannon) Boyer; her beloved grandchildren Miranda, Madison, Toby, Collin, Macrae, and Kimber; and her very special great-grandchild Jax Fitzsimmons.
She is also survived by her siblings Michael (Elizabeth) Tierney, Timothy (Denise) Tierney, Patty Edleston, and Sharon (Donnie) Weagel; her best friend Liz Stender; her brother-in-law Garry (Michelle) Boyer; sister-in-law Dianne (Jeff) Frazier; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by both of her parents, son Shane Stender, father and mother-in-law Charlie and Verna Boyer.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 at the place where Maureen and Denny were married, in honor of the love and life they shared together.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the American Stroke Association.
