Mildred Sittler

Mildred Sittler was born on 12 November 1919 to Henry and Hilda Wubbels at a farm outside of Sprague Nebraska. The oldest of three siblings she grew up near Martell Nebraska and graduated from Central High School. Upon graduation she married her high school sweetheart Lloyd in 1941, who was later drafted into the Army Air Corps. As a military wife she spent thirty years living in many different states and countries. She was the ultimate service wife who was always there supporting her family, other military spouses, and taking care of her family when Lloyd was deployed.

She and her husband retired in Martell Nebraska and became ardent Nebraska football fans. They were season ticket holders and traveled to many Bowl games. She loved all sports especially football and basketball which she followed with a passion. She became a faithful member of the Martell Methodist Church. She supported her community always free with her time, friendship, and counsel. Martell was her town that she loved dearly.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a kind soul who always remembered everyone's birthday, who was completely devoted to her family, who was the first to pick up the phone to comfort those who were ill or had lost a loved one. She loved her family, God and her country. She leaves behind heartbroken family and friends who will miss her dearly.
